Campaign Story
Created while discussing the latest Everesting trend during Lockdown, a group of South African female cyclists came up with the SHEveresting Challenge: an opportunity for female/ non-binary cyclists to push their bodies to the limit by attempting a full or half Everesting (climbing 8848m of vertical gain by doing laps of a single climb).
Saturday 17 April 2021, I (Fulufhelo Ramulifho) together with other female cyclists will take on one of the toughest challenges in the cycling world, climbing the vertical equivalent of Mount Everest on our bikes. I will be half Everesting to test my limits and use this as an opportunity to give back to Tour de Frontline charities - an initiative founded in 2020 by a group of 10 riders from different riding clubs. The cause aims to raise funds for different initiatives that will support the less privileged, especially during the difficult times highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
I have a huge passion for giving back and Saturday’s Sheversting challenge is a great opportunity to do good and suffer (meant cycle😊). Riding for 4 charities as follows:
- -Central Gauteng Mental Health Society (CGMHS)
- -One on One NPC – their key focus is education, training, research and development, primarily in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
- -Ntsika Afrika - assists K1 Netball Club in Katlehong with various needs.
- -Bula Mahlo Home - a non-profit organisation taking care of abandoned children and neglected children.
From cycling alone, we have managed to raise R18000 per charity. Our target is R25000 each for each charity. We need about R23 000 to reach our target. Hoping my efforts together with others will help us create hope for the charities listed above.
No doubt Saturday is going to be hard, if the suffering will make a difference in the lives of others I am all in.
Call for support and contribution. For this challenge, I am asking for a minimum contribution of R100 for the charities listed above.
Thank you in advance for your support.
