Shepley Freewheelers supporting The Richard Ford Trust

Shepley Freewheelers are raising funds to help support a dear friend, Richard Ford, who suffered a massive and unexpected brain stem stroke on the 9th June 2012, whilst at home with his wife and 3 young sons.

Richard was a skilled Detective Constable, junior football coach, marathon runner, Husband and Daddy. With his brain starved of oxygen for 8 hours, this stroke has left Richard dependant on nursing for his every need and daily care. Richard does however have stamina, determination and a will to get better and return home to his family. He is making small, slow, encouraging steps on his long, arduous road to recovery. The Trust has been set up as an ongoing fundraiser. It is hoped that with the generous donations given, that Richard's future rehabilitation and recovery costs once he leaves hospital will be eased.

Shepley Freewheelers are a group of Dads who have taken part in cycling challenges in each of the last 3 years.

Our challenge this year is a cycle ride over 3 days covering a distance of 180 miles, between Shepley (near Huddersfield) and Brimscombe (near Stoud), which will take place on 4th to 6th April 2013.
