Campaign Story
Hello Everyone!
Two years ago I went on a volunteer trip to Thailand and I fell in love with the experience. We distributed food, supplies and clothing to orphanages, safe houses, refugee camps, hospitals and schools. My goal this year was to increase my volunteer activity and go on another volunteer trip. I will be working in a program for Sea Turtle conservation through International Volunteer HQ in Madagascar.
This organization has been around since 2007 and is the worlds leading volunteer organization providing volunteer trip experiences in over 50 countries. These are safe, fun, educational trips that will result in lasting impacts on everyone involved. I will be leaving in the middle of February and returning at the beginning of March so my fundraiser efforts are greatly needed.
Travelling cost a lot of money, so I am looking for donations, big or small to go toward this volunteer trip for travel fees, flights, program fees, vaccinations and etc. This money, however is not just going towards myself. All money raised in the next couple months will be split evenly between myself and the community for future community projects.
This trip will consist of long hour days filled with surveying, hiking, data analysis, helping to sustain safe nesting zones, creating education programs for the community about how they can help make a difference and preserve their beaches and animals species.
So why should you donate money to send someone on a trip to save turtles?
Did you know that 6 out of 7 Sea Turtle species are endangered and that human development is the leading cause for habitat destruction and pollution? If we lose our sea turtle species our marine and beach environments will weaken immensely. This weakness will effect human life as we rely heavily on the marine and beach life to provide transportation, food, and for our trade. The desecration of this beautiful species will also play a large part in the decline of tourism for several countries which will have a devastating effect on the economy of tourist destinations.
This trip will help define my life, I will learn new skills, gain confidence in myself, meet new people and become involved in new communities. But this trip isn't only about myself but about the lives and environments that this trip impacts as well.
When I return from my trip I hope to educate youth about the opportunities of volunteering world wide and in our own communities. Volunteering is amazing for the soul and helps create a positive impact on the world. We are one and when we decide to help others we all prosper.
If you would like to donate I would appreciate it immensely, every bit counts. I will be posting information before and after the trip about everything I experienced. Follow my story if you would like to learn more or are interested in a volunteer trip.
Thanks!
