Shelby’s Medical Mission Trip to India

Hello, my name is Shelby Jackson. A goal of mine is to become a nurse. I chose this mission trip because I know it will help me appreciate the life I have here in America; as well as give me an opportunity to help the patients I have in India and to teach them how to take care of themselves. I will get to intern inside a government hospital in New Delhi and go into the slums. I will be taking vitals and giving vaccinations. This mission trip will be just before I start nursing school. I know this will give me extra experience and the excitement of becoming a new nurse. It has always been on my heart to travel to a developing country. I also have worked as a tech and a nursing assistant for almost four years now. I know taking what I already know, and keeping an open mind to learning new things, will help me in the future, but most of all helping those in India who cannot get healthcare otherwise. I have been praying about this for years and God has finally said, its time. I was nervous at first, but in my research on mission trips I came across a passage that ended with, "Don't question it. Just go." I felt God in that moment telling me to not be scared and that He has prepared me for this. He will be with me every step of the way, so I have nothing to fear. "Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality."- Romans 12:13
