My brother, Kenneth Purisima, was recently diagnosed with X-linked Dystonia Parkinson (XDP).

Dystonia is rare progressive syndrome characterize by involuntary muscle contraction resulting in uncontrollable repetitive movements and forces the body into abnormal postures. It is an adult- onset, genetic movement disorder which primarily affects male Filipino descent especially those with ancestry from Panay. Parkinson’s traits, on the other hand, manifest in symptoms such as slow movements, lack of facial expression and tremors.

The most effective and recommended medication is Deep brain stimulation (DBS), a surgery to implant a device that sends electrical signals to brain areas responsible for body movement. (It is similar to a heart pacemaker.) However, this treatment will cost him more or less P2,000,000.00 (€34,260), which is why I am asking you for your help.

Please donate if you can. All help will be much appreciated! A big thanks to all who’s helping us out!

We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
