Shawn Appeal Fund

Every week in the UK, 12 young people are diagonised with different heart conditions. On 14th December 2013, our 7-year-old son Shawn Bruce became one of those 12 young people. Shawn was diagonised with Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) while undergoing a routine operation to remove a cyst from his bowel.

During the operation, Shawn's heart accelerated to an alarming and potentially life-threatening rate and paediatric cardiac specialist, Dr Wilf Kelsall, was called to theatre to undertake an urgent heart scan. Shawn was administered with resuscitation medication and following his operation he was taken to the paediatric intensive care unit.

Shawn was found to have SVT, an electrical pathway condition that can lead to dizziness, shortness of breath and without immediate intervention, can cause cardiac arrest.
Shawn has already endured many different treatments in Dublin, Ireland but Shawn's best chance of conquering this heart disease is in the US.

We want our little boy to have specialised therapy in America. This potentially life saving treatment is likely to cost in excess of £100,000. Shawn's friends and family aim to raise as much money as possible to give Shawn every chance of a life he so desperately deserves.
