Hi! I'm Sharelle Kylee D. Tuguinay, a student of Baguio City, and I have been accepted as a delegate who will represent the Philippines in the upcoming Asia World Model United Nations to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on Jan. 30 - Feb. 02, 2019.
Asia World Model United Nations is a platform where youth mentality in leadership, negotiation and diplomacy will be developed in Model United Nations simulations. It aims to engage youth leaders from all over the world and to provide a platform to share perspectives in opinions with the theme "Youth Leaders on Preserving World Peace and Security."
In line with this, I would like to ask your financial support that will enable me to participate in this event. I hope to gain knowledge that I can use to contribute to youth development and leadership in the country.
I hail from Ifugao (the land of the famous Rice Terraces) and am part of the indigenous peoples of the Philippines. Growing up, I have witnessed the destruction of animal sanctuaries for the sake of commercialization. Some of my cousins also chose not to continue their education to help in the fields. I hope to contribute to cultural preservation, where our way of living is not compromised for the sake of progress and vice versa. It likewise my goal to encourage youth like me to finish their education.
One way to achieve this is through exposure to the various cultures that I will meet in the event. This will give me a chance to learn their best practices, which I can in turn apply and teach back home.
The deadline for the payment of half the registration ($240) is on November 30, 2018.
