Share your love with the poor children in Paitan

"I'm exhausted but will struggle on," Sister Dorothy...

In her mission to bring love, joy and hope to the poverty-stricken children, unsung heroine Sister Dorothy Laudi is undaunted by remoteness, lack of basic amenities and the dangers lurking in the Paitan River.

She has devoted herself to caring the children in Paitan, a sub-district located at the northernmost corner of the Sandakan Division. It is one of the poorest places in East Malaysia. The villages are accessible only by using four-wheel drive vehicles or travelling on the Paitan River in small boats.

"I've to beg for everything... food, money to buy food, money to buy petrol for the boatman, money to pay for the boatmen's service, stationery and even salaries for the teachers," she said.

Both absolute and relative poverty are violations of human dignity. It’s a fact that we can’t fix poverty in a week or two, but with our every little contribution and efforts, we can at least give them hope that they are not forgotten.

We will be going to Paitan from 7 – 12 September and aim to raise $3,500:

• To purchase about 400pcs of blank Instax mini film & spare batteries.
  • KIDS (Kids In Digital Shot) - our main theme for this trip. It is to capture and print images on-site for the kids. To let each child to have an opportunity to receive at least a photograph of their own.
• To purchase and provide clothes for about 200 children.
• To pay for transportation and purchase food for the children, petrol for the boats, grocery items for Sister Dorothy and the teachers at the mission house…

Please note that all the volunteers will be paying for our own air-fares, food, accommodation and other personal expenses.
