Hello! Thank you sincerely for your interest in our campaign!

I am a Czech EVS volunteer in the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. I have decided to take the initiative and try to help with the situation we are facing right now.

CCR

Our centre is a non-governmental, non-religious, apolitical organisation which was created in 1999 with the support of UNHCR. Currently, due to a global lack of resources and the refugee crisis in Europe, the UNHCR (a partner of CCR) has reduced their funding for Moldova, including finances for our organisation. This has had a directly negative impact on the activities of the CCR and its beneficiaries.

MOLDOVA

Moldova is a small country, rated as the poorest in Europe. It has a population of around 3.5 million people. At this moment there are also approximately 500 refugees and asylum seekers from more than 30 countries living here. The economic situation of Moldova is not in a good condition - the average monthly salary is around 240 euros, pension contribution is 50 euros but prices of food and services are comparable with those in middle Europe.

WINTER

It has already started to get colder here in Moldova and the temperature can go as low as -20°C during the winter. Some refugees and asylum seekers have left their countries without any property, including warm clothes. CCR has created a secondhand room where people can bring donations. At this moment there is a huge lack of winter coats and shoes for men. We are trying to inform as many locals as possible about this situation while sharing posters with a call for donations of clothes and shoes. However due to the conditions of the country itself, local help is unfortunately insufficient.

Because of all these reasons I have decided to start this fundraising campaign through which I would like to ask you to join us with help where every little step counts.

Let's spread the warmth!
