The Women's Canoe Polo team will be representing Singapore at the 2018 ICF Canoe Polo World Championship this August!
Canoe Polo is a team sport filled with excitement and energy. The game will be played for two halves of 10 minutes where two teams of five players play against one another. To score, teams will have to shoot the ball into their opponent's goalpost that is suspended two metres above water.
As our sport is really niche, we do not receive the same amount of funding that other National Athletes receive. We self-fund ourselves for all our competitions, and will be doing the same for the World Championship this year.
We will need to cover the cost for airfare, transport, accommodation, accreditation fees, equipment, insurance and food, which amounts to about $4,000 - $4,500 per person.
Canoe Polo is a sport we love, and the team has been training tirelessly together despite our full-time jobs. We hope that you will support us, and make our trip this year to Welland a great one!
