Homelessness is something that can fall upon any one of us at any time.
Its something dear to my heart and many of us at some point have experienced a version of it - be it sofa surfing, living in hostels, BnBs, or the very worst - sleeping rough...
From January 18th 2016 i'm going to spend 5 days and 5 nights living homeless and surviving on the streets of London. I'm doing this to create awareness and to show a real life account of what its like for those we see from a distance.. I'm going to try to survive with just a sleeping bag, fighting cold, hunger, isolation and hoping to share real life stories from the people that live permanently this way. Please follow my video diary/website that will be updated daily and share with all. www.noroughsleeping.com
This is a very risky and extreme way of raising awareness and one i have been strongly steered against. I do not recommend this to anyone and i have taken steps and advise to protect my safety. Sometimes helping others has to come before ourselves.
Its cold, its wet and its Christmas.. For most of the year many of those homeless are forgotten about and ignored.. Together we can help keep the doors open of those organisations working hard to keep these people safe and feeling like they have a way out..
The charities i'm raising funds in aid of are:
GLASS DOOR - As London’s largest emergency winter night shelter, Glass Door (church run charity) provides a safe, warm place to sleep for up to 100 men and women a night in partnership with churches across Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington, Chelsea, Barnes and Putney. Glass Door not only saves lives by providing refuge from the cold, we also help our guests build more stable futures. Registered Charity No. 1083203
CENTREPOINT - Centrepoint provides a safe place to live for more than 7,800 young people, aged 16-25, every year in London and the north east of England. But Centrepoint is more than just a room. Centrepoint work to get young homeless back on track with housing, learning, health and government policy. Registered Charity number 292411

Well done Sezer, a challenge not many people could have completed. You have made me very aware of just how many people are in this awful situation.
