As women in South Africa, we are challenged with the highest rate of domestic and sexual violence in the world. The lack of resources and funding in our havens and police stations have resulted in many sexual perpetrators walking freely due to lack of evidence. As we lay to rest our sisters, Uyinene Mrwetyana, Jesse Hess, Leighandre Jegels, Janika Mallo, Meghan Cremer- to name only a few, WE believe in the fight and stand against women and child violence. In South Africa, 90% of our police stations lack the basic care packages required by victims of abuse. Apart from the assault, these women are exposed to vigorous investigation processes and police stations do not have sanitation products available post trauma. We aim to provide packages of basic sanitation such as toothbrush, soap etc to these survivors as these are basic needs that should be met.
