Campaign Story
Cotton masks with filter insert for our front line medical staff.
Hello, My name is Angela Day and I am a New Zealander currently living in Taiwan with my family. I work as a teacher and have two young boys aged 5 and 7 years old. Sewing has always been a hobby of mine. Since the covid 19 pandemic, I have started to make cotton masks with filter inserts for friends and family. To my surprise, it was very well received. Ihave since gifted more than 120 masks away until I was recently contacted by a friend working with Red Cross Australia with the need for masks.
I plan to make 100 masks to send to her. I am raising funds for buying fabric, elastic and also postage to Australia. As schools are still currently open, I will work evenings and weekends to get these done. I will send 50 masks first so it reaches them as soon as possible. The second batch will be sent as soon as they are made. The masks should be completed within 1 month.
I have started working on the masks but am short of fabric, I hope I would have enough material to make the masks before Taiwan enters lock down (I suspect it's pretty soon). If Taiwan does enter lock down, I will stay at home and use the time to make more masks.
If we support our front line medical staff they will be there for us. We are in this together and we will get through it together.
Angela Day.
