Seven Seas Adventure

My name is Mike I am now 61 rears of age, I am a mostly retired photographer and am now ready for my next adventure.

It has been a lifelong dream to sail the open ocean and experience the many out of the way places and people that exist on this amazing planet of ours.

I do not have a cause or benificiary to promote, besides myself, for now that is. I will however be taking with me a lifetime of experiences, compassion and empathy and will most certainly strive to make a positive impact wherever I go.

Photography is a powerful medium, I hope to make use of great images to share my passion. Here are 10 examples of the Most Expensive Photographs sold, and here is CNN's List of the most influencial images can be used as a yardstick of how powerful the photographic image can be. So!

In exchange for your donation over $10, I offer you a single digital photographic image of the 'Mighty Dhow'; it is in B&W and suitably sized to be reproduced to an A0 size (841 by 1,189 millimetres). The featured photograph seen above was taken in Zanzibar and is of a beautiful and powerful Dhow a traditional vessel of Arabic decent used in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and Indian ocean regions. This sailing vessel with lateen sail has been used, and is still used today, to transport commodities, people, and cultures within the region. It is hand crafted and traditionally made from local timber using basic tools and materials.

Funding generated will augment my own outlay to purchase a suitably priced blue water cruiser yacht, in the 40 foot range, suitably equipped and serviced to pass seaworthyness requirements and to carry my wife and I across the open ocean safely.

Qualifying towards the International Certificate of Competence with a Yachtmaster Ocean certificate, is a process which I have begun. It requires examinations and needs suitable experience gained, this cannot be fast tracked to be of value.

Macro and micro economics have not been kind to my meagre savings when compared internationally and against the mighty dollar.
