My story begins with my beloved 92 year old grandmother Sal, who is living in Jamaica. She is one of the sweetest women you will ever meet. Despite my grandma being blind and unable to walk due to gangrene she stills keeps a smile on her face. I know many people in her condition would probably give up hope and be miserable but not my grandmother. A few years ago in 2009, I remember my family and me thinking she might not make it after my father, her favorite son passed away due to complications from severe allergies but she is still here with us. The photo I have uploaded in my profile picture is of my grandma and me the day of my dad’s funeral and we are wearing a shirt of my father in remembrance.
I still mourn my dad’s passing, but I thank God that through these last three years my grandma continues to be in good spirits and to lead the best life she can and I know it’s because of all the love and caretaking she receives from her family and friends. My family takes incredible care of her, nurturing and loving her and taking care of her every need. I admire my family for this because not everyone is like that. I am so grateful my family is as loving and devoted to her and it is their love and devotion towards her that inspired me to want to make a difference in the lives of the elderly in our community.
That’s why I am seeking to raise money by January 2013 which will help me in starting up my assisted living home for the elderly, which will be called “Memorable Living, Inc.” Where we care beyond your needs and will provide them with loving care 24/7 365 days a year. The money raised will go towards the start up costs (property rental, medical equipment) furnishings, linens, food, etc.. I want to make a difference in the lives of families by taking care of their loved one as my own because in the end that’s what makes them continue to lead happy and productive lives during their twilight years. I am currently in the process of finding a 5 bedroom ranch home with my realtor but due to my current enrollment in school, and other financial responsibilities, my funds are very limited. If I can reach my goal by January then I can start my business and begin to be a blessing to those in need. In addition, I am working on starting a company website and once it’s up and running I will be able to post more updated information.
Please help me make a change in the lives of the elderly. It’s time for us to give back to the ones who helped us during our early years and made such a big difference in our lives.
