Serena’s Volunteer Adventure to Kenya

Hello, my name is Serena, I am 15 years old and my school was recently approached by Camps International who are organizing a once in a lifetime month to Kenya in the summer of 2017! All it took was a short presentation highlighting the key features of the trip and my heart was immediately set on going! In Kenya we are given the opportunity to get hands on with locals, learning building and carpentry so we can be productive as soon as we hit land. We will also be planting trees, building fences for locals to keep all the absolutely adorable but incredibly nosy elephants off their land and generally helping to dig foundations for schools and socializing with the local community (who I hear are incredibly welcoming).The package selected by my school involves scuba diving (which is probably the most nerve racking element of the whole trip haha)!

I look forward to getting involved and spending time making a difference in the world by helping communities in need of a few extra hands. The only hurdle being the fees! But I intend to do intense fundraising as well as getting sponsorship (fingers crossed)) as soon as some of the pressure of my fast approaching GCSEs has passed.
