Sensory play@Dog Assist

In 2018, together with some of our closest partners we started working on an ambitious and unique project - Dog Assist sensory garden. We planned it as a play space, as a learning space, as a space for humans to connect with nature but moat of all for the community to connect with each other - our sensory garden will be available for both our beneficiaries and for the local community.

Why a sensory garden? Because children explore and learn using all of their 5 senses, because sensory play is essential for their brain development. Moreover, for our beneficiaries it is essential as part of the therapeutic process. Through out sensory play, they can set their filters in order to select from the environment the necessary amount of sensory input, thus being more focused in their later activities.
Our garden will have spaces for all senses - aromatic plants, sound boards, visual boards, busy boards (with activities), but also spaces for gardening.

For motric stimulation and development but also for outdoor play we wish to buy a playhouse containing a sand area, climbing board, slide, but also a table and benches. And this is were we need your help. We are raising money for another feature of the garden - the sensory play area, a wooden playhouse.

***Dog Assist Association is a Romanian NGO working in the field of human animal interaction. We offer animal assisted therapy programs, animal assisted activities, educational programmes for the community and for dog owners, but we also train therapy dogs. We aim to create a better community for both humans and animals, building on the mutual beneficial interactions between them.
