Serving in Senegal

In 2013 I went to Senegal, West Africa for the first time and it changed my life. I had a sense of being my true self when I was there. I never felt so much clarity and passion for who God created me to be and instantly fell in love with the people and the culture, and even more in love with myself and the Creator of it all. I saw these young girls and women who had similar experiences to mine, having high expectations put on their lives. This was a shared reality, even though we lived very differently. I was drawn to their compassion, their hearts, and the joy that they had. I wanted them to have opportunities and resources to experience the uniqueness of who God created them to be! I prayed that I could be a part of it all. After my 8th trip to Senegal, I learned about an opportunity to partner with a missions organization called UWM and work with MIS. MIS is a Senegalese-based local ministry that focuses on planting churches and equipping leaders throughout the villages in the area.

MIS has short term teams come in and partner with and encourage the believers in these villages. During my time in Senegal I hope to be utilized the most, assisting with the logistics for the Adopt A Village Program through MIS. This program connects US churches to specific villages where churches are being planted, providing encouragement and support, and empowering leaders to reach the people in their villages. I will be working in their office, assisting with the daily tasks, and supporting the short term teams, during their time in Senegal.
