My Subaru 360 will join the world’s largest amateur rally, the BUDAPEST-BAMAKO, in January 2018.

The BUDAPEST-BAMAKO is also the biggest charity rally in Africa. Each participant brings much needed aid to countries along the route. I have chosen Mauritania and Gambia. We will deliver donations directly to those in need, thus eliminating the middlemen.

We are purchasing school supplies, toys and solar chargers.

Support vehicles will accompany us to carry the contributions. My support vehicle will be donated to a local cause at the end of the journey.

All donations minus my costs, will be donated to Africa. Whether my costs are covered or not, I will donate a minimum of 50% of the donations received.

What is BUDAPEST-BAMAKO about?

The BUDAPEST-BAMAKO (B2) is the biggest charity rally in Africa, and a crazy driving adventure from Budapest to Bamako. B2 is for those who’ve dreamed about the Dakar, Africa, the Sahara and hitting the

open dirt under extreme circumstances. B2 is a minimal assistance event, which means that if you’re in trouble you can only count on yourself and your mates.B2 is not a Sunday drive or picnic in the park. It’s not an organized package holiday. It’s a grueling two-week drive on hostile terrain.

The motto of the Budapest Bamako is “Anyone, By Anything, By Any Means” so my tiny Subaru 360 will fit in perfectly. She will be 50 years young next year, and with her 22 horsepower and 0.3 liter engine we are in for a challenge!

The rally starts on the 12th of January with a 3,000kilometer super-marathon, from Budapest to Nador, Morocco. The planned route is via Hungary - Slovenia –Italy.

Over 3,000km in four days at European winter temperatures.

In January 2017, the temperature in January was -28°C in some parts of Hungary…

We will take a ferry from Gibraltar to Morocco, where the “real” adventure begin.

Driving on the mountain roads of the Atlas, on dirt, sand, good and bad roads across Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, and Senegal to arrive in the capital of The Gambia, Banjul.
