I would like to make a call to all the people who value microfinance and want to see reseach improve its current reach ! I am one of those, and I badly want to be part of the 13th annual global microfinance forum taking place on the 16th and 17th of March 2017 in Prague.
I am a second year master student in business engineering at the Louvain School of Management (Belgium), jointly with the CEMS programme in International Management. I am currently looking into the microfinance world since it is the topic of my master thesis and I am also working on a business project with Deloitte related to the blockchain technology and its impacts on financial applications. I wish to further understand the links that could be made between microfinance and technologies.
I know it sounds odd but I feel like I will miss a huge opportunity to learn if I cannot attend the forum. I am keen on listening to speakers coming to talk about topics like the usage of digital payments, the potential and challenges of digital money and blockchain technology, scoring systems and other digital technologies that would lead to greater financial inclusion and profitability, as well as trying to answer the question of the extent to which MFIs should be upgraded technologically.
As you surely have understood, being a student makes it financially a bit out of my reach . I will manage crashing at someone's place once in Prague but I need your help for the participation fee and airfare. I am so gratefull to everyone of you who are able to donate, big or small, to make this forum a reality for me!
It is so soon, help me make it happen !
