Send The BAC Moot Team To Hong Kong!

WHAT

We are excited to announce that the Brickfields Asia College (BAC) Mooting Society will be sending 2 teams to participate in the 15th Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot (the Vis East Moot).

Every year the Vis East Moot is attended by over 100 teams from law schools across the globe to moot an international commercial arbitration issue. The goals of the Vis East Moot are the "promotion and study of international commercial arbitration and the training of tomorrow's legal leaders in methods of alternate dispute resolution."

The field of international arbitration is complex and rapidly evolving to address transnational issues of international law and provide a uniform, neutral and transparent forum to states and parties alike.

WHO

The students participating in this competition are Crystal Choong Shu Wan, Sonia Soon, Cheo Kar Meng, Low Kar Yeen, and Zach Shaw. We are all members of the BAC Mooting Society and we've participated, been trained and received accolades in several moot court competitions.

Having participated and won Best Claimant Outline for the The 1st ICC-KLRCA Pre-Moot for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot which was held in Kuala Lumpur in 2017, we will be sending the winning participants to reach for greater heights in Hong Kong in 2018.

WHEN

The competition will be held in Hong Kong on March 11th-18th, 2018. The funds raised here will go towards the registration fee, flight tickets and hotel rooms in order to participate in the competition.

WHY

We are aspiring law students hungry for a challenge and exposure. However, due to financial limitations as students, we have to depend heavily on contributions.

Participation in the Vis East Moot will give us the experience of an international commercial arbitration setting and be put to test by international standards in this area of alternative dispute resolution.

This will be the first time that the BAC Mooting Society is sending two teams for an international moot competition abroad.

Our two teams have already begun the process of researching, writing our legal briefs, and practicing oral arguments.

HOW MUCH?

We have two weeks left to raise at least US$1,500 to pay for the registration fee.

Your kind contribution will help us to enhance our legal education experience, be exposed to international commercial arbitration standards and expand our networks.
