Send Samantha to Animation Camp

Samantha is 10 and has always had a love for drawing and animation. She has saved her money to buy her own animation tablet and currently we are researching which one is right for her. She is a model student and works diligently on her creations in her free time. She really wants to take the next step in her art and move on to animation and I really think this would be a great place to start and also to give her some knowledge and experience.

Samantha has also set her eyes on what college she wants to go to...The Ringling College of Art and Design, because they offer a major in Computer Animation. Also because she said a lot of Disney animators go there.

I would love to be able to send her to the Adventures in Animation camp through the Digital Media Academy at The University of Chicago in June. It is a 1 week camp for kids 9-12 years old.

A brief summary of the course from their website is as follows:

Discover how animators at Pixar, Cartoon Network, and Disney produce animated cartoons and movies. Create drawings and bring them to life, using production techniques such as timelines and keyframes in Toon Boom Harmony™- the same software used to create Spongebob and many more popular cartoons. Work as part of a team and make friends who share your interests as you explore other animation techniques like claymation and “humanimation”. At the end of the week, you take home a stop-motion-animated short film to share with family and friends.
