My name is Molebogeng Assegaai, I am a 21 year old Johannesburg based student at the University of Witwatersrand and I am currently seeking funding to pay of my tuition fees.
I’m from a small town in the Northern Cape, Kimberley where I harnessed and put to practice my intense passion for creativity coupled with diplomatic work. Little did I know that my passions then would set the foundation for my current career choice. I was elected as the provincial youth ambassador for the Northern Cape by the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund which served as a steppingstone to serve within my community. I worked alongside the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and Child-Line SA to produce a series of community development initiatives aimed at educating and enhancing the livelihoods of many within the Northern Cape.
My decision to pursue a career in international relations was deliberate; aimed at contributing to the attainment of women, children and human rights in Africa and around the world. As a
young African woman, the opportunity to access higher education is especially significant. For every one girl child that is educated, there are millions and millions of other equally, if
not more competent girls and women, who are violently denied their right to basic much less higher education.
Access to opportunities of higher education for young people and women is pivotal to our participation within the global and local economy. A financial investment towards the cost of my tuition fees will be a direct investment into the economic development of our my country and continent at large. As a young woman, my success and my ability to empower other young people and women is pivotal for the betterment of the collective especially within my community.
I currently owe the university a staggering amount of R71 500,00 ($5 254,00) of which 50% of the amount needs to be paid by February before I am allowed to register for the 2019 academic year. My yearly fees cost R54 000,00 ($3 9678,00) of which I urgently need to ensure I do not get financially excluded.
With the spirit of Ubuntu in mind, please do assist me by turning my current financial challenge into a stepping stone, a stepping stone that will create even more opportunities and instill hope in myself and those within my community. Your help will be dearly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
