Mike Lee has been selected as one of only seven fighters from across the country to represent USA at the 13th World Wushu/Sanshou Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia from November 11 - 18. This international event invites the top amateur sanshou fighters from over 200 countries to compete for the title of World Champion! This competition occurs every two years and the Tat Wong team has been honored to represent USA at previous World Championships in Malaysia, Turkey, and Canada. However, this will be the first championships where the events will be broadcast LIVE online on the IWUF wushu channel (please provide an email for a link)!
Unfortunately, this competition is similar to the Olympics where all fighters and coaches are amateur and must pay their own travel and boarding expenses.
Sanshou is a full-contact, combat sport best described as kickboxing combined with quick wrestling. Brandon and I have trained for months for this elite competition through intensive dieting, strength and conditioning, and sparring sessions.
Please help my coach and I participate in this once in a lifetime event to represent you, our school, and our country! Every little bit helps. Thank you.
