My younger brother, Michael Adam Oleisky was shot and killed in his Tucson apartment on September 13, 2015 in a case police are investigating. Michael, age 42, leaves behind two wonderful children, Marissa, 20 and Sebastian, 7. Michael wanted both his children to attend college. We are establishing this scholarship trust to ensure both Marissa and Sabastian can obtain college degrees.
About Michael's Children:
Michael strongly encouraged his daughter Marissa to attend college and receive her bachelor’s degree. Marissa, who was a speaker at her high school graduation, is a student at Pima Community College in Tucson, working on an associate’s degree. She possesses a strong desire to continue her education at a four-year college or university. She is a passionate individual who gave a moving eulogy at her Father's funeral. Those in attendance were struck by her poise and eloquence in sharing her father's life. Michael told me that he always wanted to see Marissa graduate with a four-year degree. I hope you can help her do that.
Sabastian is a wonderful little boy who is full of life. He has a serious medical condition. By the time he is ready for college, we want him to have the resources to attend. Please help us do that.
A Little About My Brother, Michael:
An extraordinary thing happened in the days following Michael’s death. A large and wonderful group of his closest friends just began showing up at our parents’ home. They all made a sacred pilgrimage, telling my parents how much they loved Michael. They felt duty bound to ring our doorbell and spend time with my parents. Those of you who knew Michael well, know that his friends only had to ask and he would drop whatever he was doing to help a friend in need. The tapestry of experiences that made up Michael’s life were rich, diverse and at times frustrating for him. Michael was complex. He was not perfect; none of us is. But clearly, he loved his children dearly.
About The Fund:
This fund will be managed by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s Baltimore, MD office. Jonathan Oleisky, of Owings Mills, MD, will be the trustee and Debbie Oleisky (Michael's sister-in-law), of Owings Mills, MD, will be the successor trustee. All funds raised will be used solely for educational purposes to pay for a post-secondary education for Michael’s children, Marissa and Sabastian.
Please help our family and friends honor Michael’s memory by ensuring that his children can afford a college education.
Thank you in advance for your kind donation,
Jonathan Oleisky
