Lichaba needs to fund a plane ticket to South Africa and cycling equipment to represent Lesotho in World MTB Championships.
18 year-old Lichaba West is the best junior mountainbike rider that the small African Kingdom of Lesotho has ever seen. His dream is to be the first cyclist from Lesotho to ride in World Championships and this year that dream is agonisingly close as the Worlds will be staged in neighbouring South Africa on a course that Lichaba knows well. Last year, Lichaba was ranked 23rd in the first race of the World Cup Junior category and has consistently been the National Champion of Lesotho.
The problem is that Lichaba is not home in Lesotho - he has been attending school in Wales, U.K. He has been racing in UK and at one stage was ranked 8th in British Cycling Junior rankings, but since then school work and lack of funds has meant he has missed some important races.
Lesotho is a very poor country and the government does not invest much in sport, so Lichaba has to cover the costs himself.
Let's put hands together to make this dream come true for Lichaba.
