Hi everyone, as you may have seen/heard me mention quite alot that in September i have been given the once in a lifetime opportunity to head out to Sri Lanka for two weeks to volunteer. During my time here i will be volunteering at a local orphanage and can get experience of other projects offered, volunteering with street kids/orphans, volunteering at an old peoples home and turtle conservation are a few to mention.
The children in the orphanage are aged between 6-16. The children have lost one or both parents or come from broken/single parent families who struggle to provide education and basic human needs. Tasks included in this volunteering experience include; teaching basic english, preparing activities, helping keep their rooms tidy, helping to prepare/serve meals and participate in the day to day needs of the orphanage.
This is where i ask for you to help..
In order for me to go out to Sri Lanka, i have to self fund my trip. As a student this can be difficult. With your help i will be able to venture to Sri Lanka, which essentially means that you are helping the children also, as my ability to volunteer has stemmed from your acts of generosity and kindness.
Every little does help and any donations made towards my trip are extremly appreciated. If you wish to seek any further information regarding my trip to volunteering in Sri Lanka then please visit:
Below is a YouTube clip of a volunteers experience and feedback. (great to watch and get an idea of whats involved).
Thanks, Kirsty x
