WHAT IS THIS FUNDRAISER?

Jasmine Ford was awarded a big scholarship to the Arts College of Decatur where she plans on becoming qualified to run retail businesses. Her scholarship and financial aid cover all of her academic expenses, but I am trying to help her raise enough money to cover the additional expenses of housing and, well, life.

HISTORY of JASMINE and her FAMILY

Jasmine and her family have faced a lot of difficulties - she lost her father and 6 months later lost her home and many neighbors and friends to the deadly tornadoes in Tuscaloosa of April 2011. Please help her family send her to college.

She starts school on September, 27th. I am covering her first month's housing and I am trusting that you will help fund the rest of her year.

So many of you helped Jasmine and her family move into a new home after they lost their home in the tornadoes of 2011. I hope you will once again step in and help Jasmine achieve her goals and dreams, despite having so much taken from her not too long ago...

(FYI: 100% of your donations will go to Jasmine directly, as a provate donor who wishes to remain anonymous will be paying the processing fee charged by the platform!)

AN EXCERPT OF JASMINE'S ADMISSIONS ESSAY

Fashion has always played a huge role in my life because I always loved art and music, and I saw fashion as a way of entering the art world on an everyday basis. My interest in making art led me to create my own sense of style, a style that allowed me to express my individualism. This interest in fashion grew as I learned more about the industry. I never had the artistic ability to sew clothes, but I found myself sketching designs and, as I grew older, I wanted to find ways to market products that I felt expressed who I am.

My father always motivated me to pursue a career in fashion, so as I continued to do what I loved most—sketching clothes and shoes, I began to think about college and asked myself where I could go to learn more about this industry . When I was a high school sophomore, my search led me to a great school with a great program, and   as time went on, I grew more and more eager to learn all I could about the fashion industry and how I could become a success in the fashion retail business. Since everything I do is self- taught, I have learned to surround myself with creative people and learn from them. Being taught by brilliant teachers seems to be the next step in my journey, and I know I would be motivated by students in the fashion merchandising classes with the same ambition and drive as my own.

Although I have had trials and tribulations in my life, I have never allowed myself to be defeated by them because I am a dedicated worker. This dream of attending your school and studying some aspect of fashion retail management fills me with energy and hope for the future. I see myself using my degree to land a career with such companies as Nike, Ralph Lauren, Puma, etc. I want to be in the forefront of the industry, and, with a great education and my own desire,   I believe I will be able to make a contribution right away.

Attending your school would be the opportunity of my lifetime. If I am accepted into your school, it would change my life. My goal is to waste no time getting a degree and embarking on my work life. I want to devote my life to fashion because it is an ever -changing form of art, self -expression available in some form   to nearly everyone. My great desire is to be a narrator, a leader, and a contributor to the future of fashion.

THANKS SO MUCH

Thanks so much for your support. Thanks for providing shelter through the storms of life to this wonderful family a couple of years ago, and now being the promise of sunnier days ahead to a special young woman.
