As of March 24th, I was accepted into the study abroad program...to complete a semester of my undergraduate work at the American College of Greece located in Athens, Greece. When I applied to study abroad I was under no illusions...this would be expensive. So, humbly, I am asking for your help and your support.
My current estimate of the cost for the semester is around USD $10,000. For your benefit, I'm going to break this cost done to as much detail as I can. Tuition is not included in ths number, as I will be paying my home instutiton's tuition and that will be covered my financial aid.
Passport: circa $200 USD
Round trip flight: $1300-1700
Esitmated housing, this is the biggest part I need to raise the money for. It is significantly more expensive than most study abroad schools charge for housing but it also includes 3 excrusions: $5,767 (confirmed by school).
Daily expenses (4 months worth): 2500
Other expenses (a variety of things, textbooks, other requirments and discretionary funds): 1000
At this point, I would like to assure you that I am not solely relying on this fundraiser to make this happen...but it is a large part of it. I will be receiving some amount of financial aid, but it will not be enough to cover the entire cost. Futhermore, I am applying to just about every scholarship I qualify for. Nor, however, are these guranteed. So any help is great appreciated, the $5, 000 number is about half of my esitmate and I hope - that with your help - I can reach that goal.
As a poor college student, I don't have a lot to offer you in the way of incentives...but I hope these will make you consider donating.
I have received information from Southern Utah University regarding my financial aid. My total amount of financial aid is:
$3069 of this is going to tuition.
That leaves me a little over half of the, highest estimate, cost of housing.

I have been awarded a couple of scholarships, from my home institution of SUU.
1. From the History Department. $1685 to be divided between the fall and spring semesters. This gives me about $800 to put towards Athens.
2. From the study abroad program $1000. To be put towards the cost of the flight.
I am still short about $4-5000 of my need. Please donate, and big thank yous to those who already have.
