Send Evie T to the Tap World Championships 2014

Sutton-based dancer Evie has been selected to represent England at the 2014 World Tap Championships. The 12-year old took part in three rounds of countrywide auditions earlier this year before being selected as a member of the Tap Attack Youth Company, which Evie has been training with every Sunday since May 2014. Evie has now been selected as one of 24 dancers for the 2014 England Junior Formation Team and will be representing her country at the 2014 World Tap Championships, in Germany this December. The England Team are completely self funded so Evie is now fundraising for their share of the £30,000 it costs for the team to be able to compete by the means of bag packs, quizzes and bake sales. Evie commented “To be selected to represent your country at anything is a massive honour, it took a huge amount of effort to get through the three rounds of auditions just to be selected for the training company and since then real dedication to travel to training in Swindon and Reading each Sunday”. England head coach and record breaking tap dancer Jo Scanlan said “Hundreds of dancers aged from 10 to 25 auditioned this year and competition for places was tough but Evie has worked extremely hard and shown huge commitment and therefore we were thrilled to be able to offer her a place in the final 24. England secured excellent rankings last year, including multiple gold medals across both the junior and adult divisions. The team will once again go back with the aim of improving their rankings against the other 18 countries that will be competing from all over the world.
