Marcus was born preterm via Caesarian Section that requires him to be in an incubator. Only 2.5kg, he needed oxygen and antibiotics. His mother, a single mom, already 42 years old had two procedures, one Caesarian and one to remove the cyst on her left ovary. They were both rushed to San Juan Medical Center, August 11, 20018 due to mommy’s condition. She was put to the delivery room from then on until the doctor decided last Aug. 13 to operate her before it’s too late. Luckily, both of them are ok. To date, both of them are still in the hospital. The doctor advised mommy last Saturday, August 18 that she can be discharged already, but here is the problem, this family has suffered so much financially for the past few years (mommy’s unemployment, parents death). The mommy’s family is not really doing well. She had no stable job the past few years because of her illness. She has cyst on her left ovary which makes it very difficult for her to live a normal daily life. She is practically alone with her friends only helping her. She has Philhealth, but only 19k was discounted to her P150k running bill in the hospital. She has prepared for her pregnancy and saved up P60k but were all used up for the medicines. Now, her relatives already asked the municipality of San Juan for financial assistance and hopefully they can cover at least half of the bill. We, her friends, have already contributed some amount of money for her hospital bill but we worry that it may not still be sufficient.
