Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking an interest in my fundraising campaign.

1) First of all, what is Send a Lion to the Ring about?

The Ring Lion name pays homage to Nurburgring and Singaporeans. Ring happens to be the nickname of Nurburgring while Lions describe the people of the Lion City which means Singa Pura in Malay from which the name Singapore is derived. A Singapore citizen with 26 years of real-world driving experience, handling the car is second nature to me especially in track and technical driving. I need an avenue to pursue this passion passionately and what's better than to visit the Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany to hone my skills. Hence, 'Send a Lion to the Ring'. Rest assure no real lions will be harmed in my driving adventures. LoL!

2) About the Nurburgring Nordschleife

Since its construction (1925 - 1927), the Nordschleife has enjoyed a reputation as a terrifying and merciless route through the Eifel forests. An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 even concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route”. The Formula 1 pilot Sir John Young Jackie Stewart – after all a three-time world champion in 1969, 1971 and 1973 – was so impressed by the circuit that he gave it the name: Green Hell. Racing and winning on the Nordschleife has always been very special for racing drivers, because the track is one of the most demanding in the world. Tricky corners, treacherous crests, steep inclines and gradients and constantly changing road surfaces demand great skill from the driver and put vehicles to a hard test.

3) Your funding will enable me to enrol in the Sports Driver Training Nordschleife XL program

This is not about racing. Nordschelife drivers' training programs place the emphasis on advanced car control and understanding the dynamics of a vehicle at its limits of adhesions. At the end of the day, the driver gets to become a better and safer motorist on public roads. This drivers' training experience (watch the following video for an insight of the program) is run by the Nurburgring Driving Academy which website is found at this URL: http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/home.html

4) What's the endgame?

By funding my first trip to the Nordschleife (with more trips planned to come), you're helping to seed the ground for Singapore's own (The) Stig to emerge because Ring Lions (a new car club I started on Facebook group) hope to bring the "Ring to Singaporeans" through regular driving pilgrimage. In some ways, that I hope, young Singaporeans who might exhibit exceptional driving talents would be discovered. The following video gives an example of the level of perfectionism professional drivers drove the Nordschleife. It's the standard to which we emulate.

5) What you're paying for ...

As a driver earning meagre monthly income, your precious fund will help me to pay - which otherwise is impossible under my own steam - for the training program, track-use rental car, one return air ticket and hotel accommodation at Nurburgring.

5) Got questions?

I will be happy to answer any of them here. Also, join me for discussions in the Ring Lions' Facebook group at this URL: facebook.com/groups/ringlionscarclub

See you there! ;)
