Inkiito village, in the Loitokitok District of Kenya, is 30 kilometres from the nearest water supply, Lake Amboseli. Villagers have to walk all the way there and back, carrying water for their families. At the moment, the land is parched and, unless water can be piped to the village, the Maasai population of Inkiito face starvation. A borehole installation would cost US$26,000 and would be ideal, but a groundwater dam project has been priced at just under US$7000 and the purpose of this campaign is to raise the necessary funds. In the meantime, at least the village will be able to buy a 10,000 litre tankerload of drinking water for $76 from time to time.

A Village On The Move

Update posted by JACKSON ALAIS at 12:17 pm

Because water is so Important to the villagers of Inkiito, they are going to great lengths to ensure that the first tankful purchased with donations stretches as far as possible. Most of the fit and able villagers have moved 25 kilometres from Inkiito to set up a temporary camp in. . . . .

First Water Delivery!

Update posted by JACKSON ALAIS at 01:09 am

The updates posted here are written by Linnet Woods on behalf of Jackson Alais, Assistant Chief of Inkiito village as English is not his first language. In case you are wondering why the chief himself does not communicate with us: in reality, Jackson Alais IS the chief but every village. . . . .

  • My friend Linnet Woods has taken on a really worthy cause. Imagine having no water to drink, forget about baths and showers...Yes..people on this planet don't have the resource we take for granted. We can solve the oroblem for these wonderful people...a small donation from less than 100 people will help and you will have done a mitzvah..good deed...My love and Blessings to all of you! Give the gift to a needy person....thank you for all8wing me to help! Andy Kirsch

  • This is such a worthy cause, and it's a manageable project. With enough people pitching in, this can happen!

  • Hi Jackson! This is my donation for your village Christmas food fund. Linnet suggested I send it here, as I can't deal with paypal for some reason. Good luck to you and your community. I truly hope this helps and that things improve for all of us very soon in this mad mad world. Live long and prosper in love and peace.🖖in❤&✌
