Hi, my name is Larelle ellsworth and i have a little girl called Lamiyah whos nearly 4yrs old, she is fully blind in both eyes and we really need your help and support :)
At 3months old in 2009 lamiyah had a MRI scan and it revealed she had septo- optic dyplasia, a rare brain condition which causes under-developed nerves from the eye to the brain and some mid-brain structures that aren’t fully developed resulting in developmental delays. The condition causes a variety of problems including pituitary deficiencies, hormone deficiencies, low muscle tone, seizures, and blindness.
Lamiyah cant see nothing at all, and shes behind in most areas. Shes still not talking properly, she will say odd words and make alot of sounds, her mobility is behind as shes only just started walking unaided confidently but thats only indoors. Outdoors she uses a pram and soon will be going into a wheelchair as she soon attends big school and is needed for transport. Lamiyahs going to be a braille user and has just started out tactile and mobility work. She doesnt sleep very well, and her eating habits are a real problem as most textures she wont eat.
I discovered via the Internet how stem cell treatment in China is helping other children with the same condition see for the first time. i submitted her medical details and was thrilled when i was accepted for treatment by Beike Biotechnology Co Ltd, which has treatment centres in China. The procedure, which is not available in the UK, involves injecting the spinal canal with stem cells taken from umbilical cords of healthy babies into the spinal canal. It costs a whooping £30,000 and will involve me taking lamiyah to China for a month.
Myself, family and friends have all come together to show support and have been doing fundraising events and sponsors to help raise the funds for my little girl which is ongoing...
Having this treatment will benefit lamiyah because not only will it help develop the nerves behind her eyes to try give her some sight, but it will also help with the under-developmental delays and problems we've been having.
Please help us raise the money for her treatment, anything you can give will help Lamiyah get that 1step closer to having treatment... I just want to see my little girl living a happy, normal, independant life, who may be able to see all the beautiful things in life we do.
I cant thank you enough for all the support, its truly appreciated and means the world to me and my family. please help, thankyou :)
