Campaign Story
On the night of November 5th 2019, dogs broke into Girgenti farm in Siggiewi. A beautiful haven, full of rescued animals. Animals who were supposed to be safe and secure in fenced enclosures. Rabbits, guinea pigs, a rooster and a chicken lost their lives in this unimaginable carnage.
Less than one week later, the same thing happened again. All remaining rabbits but 3 were killed.
When reporting the incident to the police, they told the owner of the farm, 'You're wasting your time filing a report'. When reporting the incident to Animal Welfare, the response was, 'We can only help if you catch one of the dogs'.
No support, and complete lack of empathy by the authorities.
SO WHY AM I ASKING FOR YOUR HELP?
Girgenti is in the process of being made more secure. High chainlink fences which are being concreted deep into the ground to prevent the dogs entering the enclosures are being put up. However, this comes at a cost.
20 deep holes for poles (€15 per hole) = €300
20 poles (€30 per pole) = €600
Chainlink fence = €350
TOTAL: €1250
I would really like for us to all come together and raise funds to cover these costs, so that Girgenti can continue to rescue more animals in need and provide a completely safe environment for them.
They have taken in so many animals that myself and Animal Liberation Malta have rescued over the years including chickens, pigs, guinea pigs and rabbits, and I feel this is the least we can do to help them out and to show our support.
Thank you 🙏🏻
