Hi, I'm Marwin from the Philippines. 22 years old. I'm working as a customer service representative in a BPO company. I was supposed to be teaching (I have a bachelor's degree in Education) but with $200 - $240 monthly wage for entry-level teachers, its hard to teach especially when you're financially supporting your brother in college like me. I earn around $340 to $400 monthly working on a BPO company which is enough for daily expenses, bills, supporting my brother and everything else but not for saving something for leisure like, lets say, a camera. And that, folks, is why I decided to create this GoGetFunding page.
Few weeks ago, I saw someone who also lives in the same city where I was posted her used Fujifilm X-A10 and selling it for $300 (see photo attached) It is less than a year old and still within warranty so buying it is totally worth it. The post was more than a months old now and it looks like no one's buying it yet. I haven't messaged her yet since I don't have cash on hand. And I really wanna buy that cam. (Actually she's selling a Nikon D5100 with 18-55 mm, 55-200mm and 35mm lenses for $360 which is what I really want to buy because it's such a steal but i think setting your goal as $360 is too much.) I asked my friend if spending a single dollar for a donation will affect you guys and she said not really so $1 per person is enough actually. :)
"CANT YOU BUY IT YOURSELF?"
Theoretically, I can but it will take me months, or maybe over a year, to come up with $300. It is because of the aforementioned reasons and I am still paying for a secondhand motorcycle I use to go to work because it's really a hassle to commute to work and our transportation system here sucks big time. It was sold to me for $600 but I don't have that amount of money so I negotiated on paying for it every month for the next 10 months. That's $60 a month if I'm going to be able to pay every month.
I can buy that camera, but I'm not going to be certain if its still for sale once I got the money. Its a huge waste if I'm not able to buy and and I can't be certain that I can have the same deal in the future.
"WHY A CAMERA?"
I'm a film fan, I really love good films. You can consider me a level 1 film geek. Unfortunately, studying film here is not practical and costly. The closest thing I can be on being a filmmaker is being a photographer. I'm not a sporty guy coz I don't have the physical requirements necessary for sports, I seldom play videogames because I do not own a console and when I play I still suck (genes maybe lol). But in photography, I think I can excel. I think I can appreciate everything around me more. I can connect more. This may sound cheesy and rehearsed to sound (or look appealing) but that's just what I'm really feeling towards taking picture.
Currently I'm using my secondhand iPhone 5s when I feel like I wanna take some pics. I always think that Stanley Kubrick was once a photographer.
So there you have it. If you can help me with this, thank you very much. And if you can't for some reason, I can totally understand. Still, thank you, for reading all of this (I know you read all this shizz coz you've made it til the end).
Thanks again. :)
