In today's jobless world it is hard enough on adults to find what they're good at. Without support from social programs or even mentors, the youth in our cities all over Canada are finding it impossible to hone into their strength and give back to our communities.
Who will you help: We will work with Universities/Collages, Community Centres, Non-profit organizations, and Government agencies; to help youth from ages 12-24 who require support in the areas of substance mis-use, mental health, as well as youths involved in the criminal justice system. We'll also advocate for the rights of homeless youth, provide street outreach, and work with youth who are involved in education system that are experiencing difficulties.
How: Through the already active and over two dozen volunteers; we will work to have speakers from social programs, legal support, and educational institutions. They will come and provide what they can do to educate, support and address key concerns in our cities. We would provide a forum for youth to ask for support, and provide a forum for those who practice social change, either through their organization or educational institutions, and become part of our movement for a Second Chance.
Many social programs are currently available, but are mostly spun in bureaucracy. Our program will link such services and provide an all-in-one support chain.
Where: Our start up project will began in Toronto. The Second Chance Open Forum Conference will be held at Toronto's largest Business University and in the centre of downtown Toronto at Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Management.
When: We will invite the youth and in-the-field practitioners on February 22, 2013.
I truly believe together we can give a hand to our youth, so they can extend an arm to their youth. Together we can give A Second Chance!
Thank you for your support, your donation is one more light making the future brighter for the youth.
