“Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

In your own way, be an advocate of mental health and take simple steps in order to push for mental health awareness. In the action of paving way for more opportunities for mental health awareness, you can aid in unveiling a larger spectrum of holistic health.

Reality
  • The suicide rate for males is 2.5 per 100, 000 population and for females is 1.7 per 100,000 population (WHO, 2008).
  • There were 2,558 cases of suicide due to mental health problems in the Philippines in the year 2012 alone (WHO, 2014).
  • The age-standardized suicide rate in the Philippines is 5.8 for male, 1.9 for females, and 3.8 for both sexes (WHO, 2017).

Today, mental health has been a pressing yet misunderstood issue. Nevertheless, it is overlooked by many. Taking the form of merciless monsters unseen to the naked eye, it is a powerful entity hampering the right of many to happiness - a privilege everyone equally deserves.

Apparently, those facing their battles alone are left to be misunderstood without enough people who seek to understand with sincerity. Thus, with this growing gap between the masses and mentally ill, the former are left oblivious and the latter is left isolated, deprived of the voice to reach out and be heard.

Project Philippines 2018: Mental Health Awareness is a project organized by the Southeast Asian Service Leadership Network (SEALNet) to address and raise awareness for mental health in the Philippines. With the aim of empowering young leaders to conduct mental hair awareness projects in their communities, it can push for a manifestation of awareness and thus understanding between individuals.

In order to ensure the success of this project, fundraising is a critical factor. The team is taking a variety of steps in order to achieve this. We are hoping that you can be a positive partner by contributing any amount that you are willing to give.

If you wish to know more about the project, the project team is very willing to discuss in any way possible. Do not hesitate to contact the team via the Facebook page, email, or personally through any team member.

The entire team and future beneficiaries of this project will forever be grateful for you generosity. Thank you so much!
