this is for my son, who has a big dream, an ambition but finds it hard to achieve because of our present condition. i am asking for some financial help from nice people out there who has extra cash & a good heart & lucky to not experience what we are experiencing now. My son, to be a full-pledge / graduate of BS Marine Transportation.

He is now on the final stage of the course. Arielle Patrick Navales Kanakan has finished 3-years academic study & 1-year onboard apprenticeship (domestic trade), with SMC Ship & Lighterage Corp. onboard MTKR/SL Butanding.

On Nov 5 2017, he went back to Manila with high hopes that he can find a manning agency who will hire him for a seafaring job; save some of his salary for his school TOR & the MARINA examination & also the examination review course. But since we can not support him financially & we don't have relatives in manila where he can stay, he worked as a Stock Clerk at SM City Manila for 5-months. While working at SM, he also applied to plenty of manning agencies around Malate area & Makati only during his rest days, which is only 1 day in a week. He was always rejected for reasons that he do not have an onboard international experience or he doesn't have a backer, or they were looking for an applicant who has a US Visa or a Schengen Visa. Both visas can only be obtained when a seafarer is being endorsed by their agency; and such agency will only file for visa application if the seafarer is hired for a seafarer job.

His last chance to work again onboard a vessel is to return to Likas Ship Agency Inc. (his agency on his apprenticeship). But Likas Ship Agency Inc. requires returning seafarer to take the MARINA examination first. But before he can take the examinations with MARINA, he has to pay his school (Negros Maritime College Foundation Inc - Dumaguete City) Php18,000.00 so they will issue him a 4-year Transcript of Record, wait for at least three months (CHED processing) and that three months he can enrol for a review course which costs at least Php30,000.00.

The MARINA licensure examination costs Php3,000.00 to Php5,000.00.

He had his apprenship Aug 2016 - Aug 2017, his pay was enough for his fathers medication & daily needs because on march 2016 his father had a stroke and became jobless since then. We were not able to save some of his allowance for his TOR & MARINA Exam which was the original plan if his father had not gotten ill.

Sometime Feb 2018, we were so glad that he was given a chance. He was interviewed by a French HR & the yacht captain & was hired. He was forwarded to a manning agency, entertained, signed a contract & was even given the copy of his plane ticket to Italy. But his medical result was delayed for just 1 day & his contract was ordered cancelled by the captain. It was a very sad news for everyone in the family. As a mother, i was so hurt hearing my son crying on the other end of the line, telling me SORRY 'MA over and over. Writing this now, my heart still hurts. Anyways, his crewing manager promised him to find another principal (company) but sad to say it never happened.

On May 6 2018, his contract with SM City Manila ended & he went looking for another job (not as a seaman) so he will have money for his expenses in manila & still continue his luck looking for a job as a seaman on his restdays

On July 5 2018, he saw a seaman job post in facebook and went to the agency office to apply. They saw his documents & again found another reason to reject him. His seamans book (expiry date july 2019) & philippine passport (expiry date dec 2019) should be renewed. Renewing both would cost at least Php5,000.00 because he needs to undergo some trainings again for his seamans book.

July 10 2018, is his first training day at Jollibee Hidalgo Quiapo as a kitchen crew. Since he is working at jollibee, he again got one day only to apply as a seaman. Which means his chances to be hired is so low because there are thousands of seaman looking for a job around manila everyday. And he is getting older in which case will not be hired for most agencies has age requirements even if it is against the law.

If we can raise the money, he need not work part-time and can process his documents soon and can return to his previous employer/agency.

as a mother, my heart bleeds. i really wanted to help him. i prayed a lot, asking for divine intervention. i don't know, but maybe finding this site is one divine intervention.

anybody out there who has a good heart and any extra , i hope that you find in your heart the kindness to help us. any amount is a big amount for us. i myself would want to help the needy because i know how it feels to have nothing. how it feels thinking that someone's son is sleeping on an empty stomach. a son who you knew is a good son, with ambition, but can't reach it his ambition, because you, his mother can not help.

to those who will donate, thank you very much and i pray that God will bless you more. I wanted to know your names, so i can personally thank you once my son will be one successful seafarer.

I have uploaded my son's picture so you would know that i am one sincere mother who wanted the best for her child.

the picture of a pair of damaged broken shoes was worn by my son when he was applying as an apprentice until one good lady boss of him gave him a new pair.

i am positive enough that mothers who will read this can relate.

Thank you! God bless you all.
