The SEA is seeking donations to help members pay medical bills and insurance premiums while on strike.

The Strongsville Education Association (SEA) represents 380 teachers, guidance counselors, and special education interventionists. While on strike, SEA members receive no salary and benefits. The SEA is entering its 8th week on strike.

More Information:

The members of the SEA began their strike on March 4. That strike, now in its 8th week, is for a fair and equitable contract. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly clear that SEA is fighting its battle against a Board of Education that is unconcerned with its students, but whose only concern is its anti-union agenda. This Board of Education has rejected contract proposals from SEA that include 0% base increases for its lifetime, $1 million worth of insurance concessions, and a free half hour of teaching for every student everyday, at no cost to the district.

It is clear that the Board is prolonging this strike in an effort to break the SEA and set dangerous precedents in public education. It is also clear that the Board members do not care about what damage they inflict along the way, from the damage done to students going on 8 weeks void of consistent and significant education, to the damage done to the district by rejecting SEA's offers for increased long-term financial sustainability and increased contact time for students.
