YUNTAS is a non-profit association in Tarapoto, Peru that supports local schools with arts education. They regularly invite national and international artists to lead art workshops at local schools with children of various ages, outside of classroom. In the past they organised workshops of mural painting, music making and theatre around the topic of amazonian self-identity. The goal of this program is to raise emotionally intelligent adults who are ecologically conscious, think critically and - in the end - develop a sustainable society.
Tarapoto is situated in the north of Peru, at the edge of the Amazonian cloud forest and the Cordillera Escalera Regional Conservation Area (Área de conservación regional Cordillera Escalera). It is an important ecological area for forest preservation. (?)
In May YUNTAS is organising a sculpting workshop using recycled wood, led by Chilean sculptor Jorge Chavez Aracena. We need funding for materials (screws, nails, glue, sandpapers, paint) and tools (hammers, saws, screwdrivers, sanders, drills, worktables) with total cost of 3000 USD.
Please help us buying the materials and tools we need for this workshop.
