Who we are
My name is Patrick. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster and represent Boy Scout Troop 91 in Seymour Missouri. Troop 91 is comprised of an awesome group of boys aged 11-16. As a troop we are actively engaged and involved in the community and spend a lot of time outdoors camping.
Why we are raising money
Most troops have ample camp gear donated by fathers and the community and over the years the troop is usually able to accumulate some great working gear. Unfortunately, troop 91 is in an impoverished area and just does not have any camp gear that belongs to the troop. My son and I recently transferred here from a troop in Ohio and the difference between the two is huge. This troop simply does not have much and it is a circular problem. Not having gear is a detriment to recruiting efforts and reduced troop numbers leads to less money to spend.
What the funds will be used for
We will be purchasing a trailer to store all of the troop camp gear and to haul everything back and forth to camp. We will also be purchasing gear such as tents, cook stoves and cookware. The trailer will likely be purchased used so that we can save money but everything else will be purchased in new condition. There will also be some cost involved in customizing the interior of the trailer. We will do the work together as a troop.
Why should you get involved
The character building that is done within the scouting organization remains crucial to the future leadership of America. Even a small donation could mean a lot to this troop and could pay great dividends in the future. We currently have several other fundraisers in the works but this could push us to another level and allow us to move immediately with the purchase of proper gear for these boys.
