Scottie Journey to Liver Transplant

November 2017 my nephew Scottie James Castro was diagnosed Biliary Atresia.It is a condition in infants in which bile ducts are blocked, leading to Liver damage. It is also known as Liver Chronic Desease. It is congenital and no doctors can explain how and why it happened. It is fatal and this desease is not rare anymore.

He had his “Kasai Procedure” last year November 2017 at ManilaMed Center. A Kasai Procedure is a way to surgically bypass them and prevent liver damage. It is often the preferred treatment for Biliary Atresia. Unfortunately, that procedure didn’t succeed and as per his Pedia Gastroenterologist, the only way for him to extend Scottie’s life is to undergo Liver Transplant operation which could cost PhilP4M or $80K. And or if we bring Scottie in India it will cost 2M or $40K, which we are planning to do now. Unfortunately we’re not in stable financial situation to afford the said procedure. Currently we are undergoing series of tests and work up

to prepare us for transplant and these cause out savings to slowly deplete.

Our Baby Scottie’s presence brightens our day. Seeing him suffer pains us and we wanted to save him. We wanted to see him grow with his new liver and live a normal life.
