Campaign Story
Help us raise funds for a new, motorised scooter for our fearless hero, Oli! As well as an additional scooter, like his stolen one, so he may use it in places not suitable for the motorised scooter. The funds will also go towards insurance for his scooter, incase anything like this were to happen again.
Our dear friend, Oli, has always been the go-to guy in our social circle. He makes us smile, helps where he can and makes sure we feel supported. Yet, nineteen year old Oli has already faced enormous challenges in his life. You see, he has a rare collagen condition , Stickler syndrome, that affects his sight, hearing and significantly his musculoskeletal system. Oli states that "in terms of walking, it makes my walking slow, tiresome and painful and as well as making me unable to run." Since school days, roughly grade 2, he has used a push scooter to keep up with his peers.
Oli is now studying engineering at the University of Cape town, and while he is only in his first year, he is already recognisable, with his infectious smile while zipping on his scooter around campus. Sadly, a few weeks ago his scooter and other personal belongings was stolen from his family car. Oli says, "It felt kind of like half my legs were stolen..." There are also financial challenges. Oli added, "I recently came across a new motorised scooter that fits my needs perfectly, the problem is that it is very expensive. and I have already have a student loan to pay for university and can't afford it."
As close friends, we have felt helpless whilst supporting him, but we quickly realised that the generosity of many can make a huge difference in the life of one.
Help us get Oli scooting on campus again!

Oli, I know how much energy and effort you need to put into moving every day and I continue to be amazed by your upbeat attitude and eagerness to embrace life. Hopefully this will make moving around a little less tiring. XXX
