Hello, I’m Mike Wu from China. I’m 17 years old. I have a grandma, she is 90. And she is the only one who never left me behind.

8 years ago, my mom left to look for better life. I think she did find one since she never came back. 4 years ago, my dad left since a rich woman, at least richer than he, married him on the condition that he moved to her house and lived with her family without me (that is “Rui Zhui入缀” in Chinese). So there has been only my grandma and me in my family since then.

Since my dad married again, I got no financial support from him, not mention schooling. I had to earn to support myself and my grandma. It’s against the law in China to hire teenagers under 18. The company doing that will be punished severely. I’m under 18, so I can’t find a full-time job. I have managed to find some temporary jobs from time to time. I can only find labor work since I am uneducated and unskilled. I realized this kind of work can’t’ lead us to a better life. And I may not be able to earn enough from them to stop my old house from collapsing before it does, not mention building a new one.

Besides that, I also have my dream. I want to run a motorcycle shop cause I love motorcycle. I enjoy riding it in the morning and at dawn when the breeze is fragrant and the world is quiet. It may sound ridiculous to talk about dream with a young man who is struggling to survive and receives no much schooling.I know it must be a long way before I achieve it. But I believe that if I start, it will come one day. I don’t want to give up at the first where I haven’t tried and when I am still young. I want to and I need to lift myself up because all who I used to be close to had abandoned me and I am the only one who can save myself. So why not start right now?

I want to start by learning to repair motorcycle and battery cycle. Then I can find a full-time job about it later on and I may be able to put a stop to my collapsing house before it finally hurt my old grandma.

I need your help to raise fund for the fee for the Lesson on Repairing Motorcycle and Battery Cycle. Any cent from you is building up a hope for me. Thank you.

P.S: I want to thank Maggie Liu who advised and helped me with this fundraising. She is a beautiful and well educated girl in our village.
