With all the incidents of School Shootings happening I would like to start a training class for teachers and provide equipment for them to use as a first response for a child being hurt.   Schools have AED's in them and most have school nurses that have first aid kits.  But a school shooting is an uncommon emergency, you have to have uncommon equipment and training to handle these type of situations and wounds.

As a father of four young children I would want to know that each teacher is trained to properly treat my child in this unique situation.  As a Paramedic Supervisor in a big city and an EMS Trainer, I know that the protocol for most school shootings is a complete lockdown and wait for the authorities.  As this lockdown and waiting procedure works for the safety of all, it does not work for the health and well being of someone that is hurt.

I would like to start with my own school district as a test site.  To tweak the class and equipment.  Eventually leaving this area and training other schools.  My First Aid kit for this situation costs about $100.00 a piece.  I would like to see this special response bag in each classroom.  The cost and time of the training will all be donated at this time.  The cost of travel to other districts can be discussed at a later date.

Being instantly killed in an incident is one thing, but reading that someone died of their wounds because care didn't come fast enough should never be read by anyone again.
