Most of the parents of school children in this community are unemployed, which means most of the children go to school on empty stomach and when return at home either one meal sometimes nothing at all. As small private company in the area could not just look away that when come up with the idea of School Child Food Parcel (SCFP) Since founding it in 2009, the School Child Food Parcel (SCFP) has given away over 100,000 take-home meals to children who would have otherwise gone home from school hungry, having to wait until school breakfast the next morning to eat again. Children in these types of desperate situations usually rely completely on the school-provided breakfast and lunch programs for their entire days worth of nutrition. Thanks to SCFP Program, children within our district were able to take home a third meal from school, often providing dinner for both themselves and their siblings. It was incredible to see our mission accomplished. We are now setting our sights on expansion. While the SCFP has been effective in our local school district, we know the problem of after school nutrition runs wider than just our small community. A recent survey revealed that over 48% of students in 300-mile radius go home to an empty dinner table. Scientific research shows that this lack of provision not only negatively impacts physical development, but also emotional and educational health. When a child receives a School Child Food Parcel (SCFP), that child is not only being given a meal; he or she is being given an opportunity to be nourished, to feel safe, and to focus on academics. It is our goal to expand our program from our local school district, to surrounding school districts covering the aforementioned 300 miles. We aim to increase production of take-home meals by 75%, and we know that with your support we can fund both the grocery purchases and the volunteer workforce needed to make the initiative a reality.
