Scholarships for Refugees 2023

The objective is to offer to a group of refugee-students to take part to the 23rd annual Odysseus Summer School on EU Immigration and Asylum Law and Policy, which will take place in Brussels from 3 to 14 July 2023. Their participation will be facilitated with the online version of the summer school on top of the onsite version.

By participating to the summer school, refugee-students will have the possibility to gain knowledge in European immigration and asylum law and to complete their education, which may have been interrupted by their forced departure from their home country. Most importantly, they will have the chance to tell their stories and have their voice heard. Their time in Brussels will also allow them to discover the European institutions.

In order to support this year's campaign, we created #refYOUgees a social media platform to share the stories of the refugee-students that we will welcome. Join us on Instagram and Twitter by following the hashtag #refYOUgees!

The Odysseus Academic Network is a network of experts in EU migration and asylum law from across Europe and is coordinated by the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). The network has created a pan-European community of researchers and experts in the area.

The cost for hosting ten refugee students would amount to approximately € 7,500, which are needed to cover their transportation, daily expenses in Brussels, and a portion of the tuition fees. The ULB offers the accommodation, and food.

The project entails costs which the Odysseus Network - a non-profit organisation - cannot cover alone. The Summer School is indeed entirely self-financed and does not benefit from any financial support other than the fees paid by the participants.

Le but de ce projet est d’offrir à environ 10 étudiants-réfugiés la possibilité de suivre notre prochain cours d'été dont la 22ème édition se tiendra à Bruxelles du 4 au 15 juillet prochain. Leur participation sera facilitée par la version en ligne de l’école d’été en plus de la version sur place.

Le cours permettra aux participants d’acquérir des connaissances en droit européen d’immigration et d’asile et de poursuivre leurs études qui pourraient avoir été interrompues lors de leur départ du pays d’origine. De plus, Ils auront la possibilité de raconter leurs histoires et d’entendre leurs voix. Ce séjour à Bruxelles leur permettra aussi de découvrir les institutions européennes.

Le Réseau Académique Odysseus est un réseau d’expert en droit européen de l’immigration et de l’asile provenant de tous les États membres de l’Union européenne et coordonné par l'Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Le réseau a créé une communauté paneuropéenne de chercheurs et d'experts dans la domaine.

Le prix pour accueillir 10 étudiants réfugiés correspond approximativement à 7.500€, ce montant est nécessaire pour couvrir le prix du transport, les dépenses journalières à Bruxelles, et une partie des frais d’inscription. L’ULB offre le logement et la nourriture.

Ce projet engendre des coûts que le Réseau Académique Odysseus ne peut supporter seul en tant qu’organisation sans but lucratif. Le cours d’été est entièrement auto-financé et ne bénéficie d’aucun soutien financier à part les droits d’inscription payés par les participants.

Vous pouvez nous aider avec une petite donation. Pour vous remercier, nous enverrons à tous les donateurs, quel que soit le montant de la donation, la brochure où les étudiants-réfugiés qui le souhaitent racontent leur parcours.
