Scarlet – RIP

Ssgt. Caesar is a 4 1/2 year old English Bulldog, Mascot for the 1st Batallion 5th Marines Vietnam Veterans and Service dog for his owner who suffers from PTDS.
Ssgt. Caesar has been very active with giving back to our Marines and those who fight and have fought for our country. We work with Toys for Tots; Semper FI Fund; 11th, 5th Marines , K9's and Wounded Warrior Batallion West at Camp Pendleton attending various family events. We have collected donations for these most worthy events.
Also, we participate various parades honoring our Military and speak at local elementary and High Schools bringing awareness to the current issues are veterans experience.

In mid May he chewed a pod from a Sago Palm and almost died; if not for the wonderful care he received from the ER Vet and Dr. Dirk Butcho at Provet, we would have lost him. After 4 days in the hospital we were able to bring him home. During his care it was discovered he had an enlarge heart.
Ultrasound and echocardiogram tests show heart failure on the right side, with thinning of the muscles; this makes him retain fluids. His tests have been reviewed by our Vet, radiologist and Cardiologist; all are in agreement with the diagnosis.
He currently is taking 4 medications and needs to continue to have follow up doctor visits and ultrasounds to monitor his heart.
