#SavingFighterRyanEstavillo

To our dear families and friends, we are raising funds for my brother’s hospitalization and medications.

After being free from Osteo Sarcoma for 7 years, he has now Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his left lung. They call it recurrence.

He’s currently in ICU and fighting to get his life back. With God’s grace, he’s stable after multiple attacks where we almost lost him. He keeps on fighting for us, for his kids and for his wife.

——

My brother is a warrior.

In 2011, he was diagnosed with Osteo Sarcoma. He had chemo for 6 months, but nothing happened so he decided to have his left leg amputated in 2012. Despite having only one leg, he lived normally. He was cancer free for 7 long years and blessed with 2 adorable kids.

But cancer has its way of going back. In August 2019, he was diagnosed with Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his left lung. This was 2.5 months after our father was out from the hospital and recovering from Aneurysm.

My brother had several treatments, from naturopathy to expensive synthetic drugs. Unfortunately, we’re too late in the game. The mass grew faster and made his body weaker each day.

He had several tests. He lost weight. He experienced difficulty in breathing and severe back pains. He was sleeping in an upright position. Seeing him in pain break our hearts.

We didn’t know where to start — how he will be healed and what treatment is appropriate for this rare type of cancer. But God have his own ways and means to answer our prayer.

Last December 9, 2019, my brother was rushed to the hospital because he can’ breathe. He was transferred from one hospital to another to address every pain he has.

On his 3rd hospital, he’s confined in ICU. He had pleural effusion in his right lung, thus he needed thoracentesis. His heart was confirmed as displaced to his right side due to growing mass. His heart rate was at par with a running athlete. His O2 Sat and BP were declining. His arms and limbs were swelling. He was intubated. He feeds through his nose (with NGT). His pain medications are round the clock, every hour. We even reached the point where his doctors were explaining to us the DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) forms. He had 3 attacks where we almost lost him.

We kept our faith. We didn’t sign the DNR. As my Tita said, believe in miracles, and miracles do happen everyday. And with God’s grace, it did.

Day by day, we’re seeing improvement in Kuya’s condition. Even if intubated and with NGT, he’s able to joke around and tell story through sign language. He’s conscious. When being ask if he is in pain, his answer is always “no”. His body is warm. His vitals are close to normal. Praise God!

He’s prescribed with 5-15 sessions of radiation therapy. He will stay in ICU while on therapy. His first session was today.

We are hopeful that he will continue to get better.
